Ep 9: Lisa Wimberger | Unlocking the Power of Neuroplasticity

May 07, 20252 min read

Lindsay O'Neill, host of the Optimize We podcast, interviews Lisa Wimberger, the founder of NeuroSculpting, discussing biohacking truths and her personal transformative story. Lindsay shares how she met Lisa two years prior and highlights Lisa's advocacy for others.

Lisa recounts being struck by lightning at age 15, which severely impacted her nervous system and led to decades of vasovagal seizures. Unlike typical epileptic seizures originating in the brain's cortex, Lisa's seizures stemmed from her brainstem and affected her vagus nerve, causing her heart rate to plummet and leading to flatlining on multiple occasions. Despite experiencing these debilitating episodes, often in secret, she didn't receive a proper diagnosis until age 30 after a seizure in a doctor's office. At that time, Western medicine offered limited solutions, primarily advising her to manage hydration and avoid sudden movements.

Feeling abandoned by conventional medicine, Lisa embarked on a journey of self-education, delving into the nervous system, the vagus nerve, polyvagal theory, neuroscience, and neuroplasticity. Already having a long-standing meditation practice, she realized meditation alone wasn't addressing her physical symptoms. This led her to develop the NeuroSculpting five-step protocol, which combines neuroscience principles with meditation to create a practical method for rewiring the nervous system. She used herself as a guinea pig, specifically rehearsing a fight or flight response instead of her default freeze response to stress.

NeuroSculpting is not limited to seizure disorders and has a wide range of applications. Lisa explains it can help rewrite any pattern in the nervous system, benefiting individuals with self-sabotage, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and neurological conditions like Parkinson's, ALS, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and stroke. She shares compelling case studies of clients who have experienced significant improvements in symptoms and regained function.

Lisa emphasizes her goal of client autonomy through education, aiming for clients to become self-sufficient and not need ongoing sessions. While this approach might not offer predictable income, she believes it's the most ethical and effective way to build a thriving business based on creating "raving fan customers."

The conversation also touches on Lisa's upcoming retreat, "The Congruence Neurosculpting Retreat," in Colorado from June 20th to 22nd. The retreat will focus on using NeuroSculpting to address subconscious patterns that conflict with conscious desires, leading to suffering. It will include in-person group NeuroSculpting sessions, nervous system regulation practices, yoga, sound healing, and spatial audio experiences.

Lindsay and Lisa express mutual admiration for each other's work and authenticity, particularly on social media, where Lisa personally creates her content to ensure genuine transmission of her message. They conclude by highlighting the preciousness of life and the importance of gratitude. Lisa expresses her hope to continue helping many more people achieve their desired life outcomes through NeuroSculpting.
